The Angel Building project involved the internal restructuring of the former 1960’s office block. From the earliest design stage, Andrews were involved with the client Derwent London and employed to design, manufacture and install a bespoke floor based on a concept the architect had viewed in an Italian café of random marble inserts bedded in an in situ terrazzo matrix. Manufactured at our Leeds based factory over a six-month period, Andrews pre-cast various bespoke floor slabs and stair treads all with individually placed 80x40mm Thassos marble inserts. The project has met with universal acclaim and was nominated for the RIBA Sterling prize in 2011, with the terrazzo flooring being nominated at the prestigious Specialist Subcontractors Awards under the category of ‘best internal fit out.’
